Be bold: turn off all notifications!

Stress is all around us. We’ve talked about it a few times over the past couple of weeks and the biggest stress factor for us marketers seems to be productivity – or rather a lack of it. That’s why I’m giving you this quick and easy yet incredibly bold productivity tip: dare to turn off all notifications once in a while.

As a marketer, you’re constantly switching between project, tools and accounts and can’t always focus on a specific task. Your enthusiastic team and the office chatterbox - yes, every office has one - are certainly not helping. Noise-cancelling headphones and Spotify to the rescue? Definitely. 

Try to go a little further next time. Tell your colleagues you need to focus for the next hour and turn off all social media, Slack (or other office chat apps) browser and email notifications. You’ll be surprised to see how much work you can actually do in an hour!

Yes, I know. It’s your job to keep on top of the latest tweets about your brand and industry. But as a marketer you also have tons of other projects to work on. I’m pretty sure no one will blame you if you reply to a comment within an hour instead of your usual 3.5 minutes - unless you’re a community, social media or conversation manager. If you are, turning off all notifications for more than one minute might involve you losing your job. So please, ignore this marketing tip and enjoy our other content.
